Malta is the ideal location for Golfing. Being centrally located in the Mediterranean and just a few hours away from the major European cities together with the favourable mild weather during winter, all make the Maltese island an ideal venue for golfing breaks in Malta. The Maltese Island offers a fully equipped Golf Club located in Marsa.
Brief History of the Royal Malta Golf Club
The Royal Malta Golf Club dates back to 1888 when golf was first played in the ditches formed by the fortification walls of Valletta. One of the founding members was the then Duke of Edinburgh who was serving in Malta at the time and from whom the club received royal patronage. The club moved to its present location in Marsa in 1904 and in the course has undergone numerous changes the most significant of which is the installation of an irrigating system that helps keep the course evergreen.
Golfing in Malta today
The Royal Malta offers 18 holes of golf in a very well maintained course. Today at par 68, the course is a good test of golf without being unkind to the novice. There are some very interesting par 3s, the most memorable of which, is the 6th – nicknamed “The Maid’s Bedroom” by the members. The two par 5s present a daunting challenge in the prevailing winds, as do some of the longer par 4s. A PGA qualified teaching professional is always on call for those who wish to learn the game or improve their talent. For non-golfing partners the adjacent sister club Marsa Sports Club offers facilities which include 19 tennis courts, 5 squash courts, a mini golf piste, bowling alley, swimming pool, bar and restaurant. - Offer is on a Fully prepaid basis. No refunds if booking is cancelled or modified. Should the course not open due to inclement weather, we will refund you the costs of the prepaid golf rounds accordingly.

Offer is valid with a minimum of 3 nights’ stay.
- No blue denim or track suits are allowed on the course.
- Gentlemen: Collared polo shirt, tailored slacks or shorts.
- Ladies: Sleeveless, non collared tops are allowed, but definitely not strap tops. Tailored slacks, shirts or shorts.
- Only golf shoes with soft spikes or trainers are allowed on the course.
And if you would like to try out the skill for the first time, the Royal Malta Golf Club also offers lessons by a PGA Golf Professional for individuals, couples or groups at attractive prices.
