Malta’s waters are rich in wrecks, wild life and diving enthusiasts. Whilst staying at the Grand Hotel Excelsior use the pool deck on the Hotel’s Piazza Marina to take a lazy swim or sunbathe or take a short ferry boat ride to Gozo, Malta’s beautiful sister island.
Our Concierge can organize several water sport activities which range from water skiing, banana rides, paragliding, jet skiing to daily boat trips to Comino or Gozo. And should you wish to use the water taxi service to Sliema or Valletta Waterfront we can also organize it for you.
Malta is a true paradise for scuba diving and snorkeling lovers. Underwater visibility offers an average of 30 meters plus per day and Malta boasts some of the cleanest waters in the Mediterranean. Diving in Malta is possible all year round and in the rare eventuality of rough seas one can always find a sheltered cove somewhere accessible to divers.
There are many different wreck dive sites in Malta, some of which date back to World War I. These are suitable for all levels of diving experience as they are in depth ranges of 14 to 60 meters. Or you can just enjoy diving in the shallower reefs, viewing table mountains and different rock formations, abundance of marine life and the possibility of swimming through the clear waters which Malta has to offer, making it one of the most sought after diving destinations.
